What is Pallet Racking?

Non-Palletised Storage Systems
There are product categories that do not use pallets but benefit from the structures used in pallet storage racks. They provide ideal heavy duty storage for specialist products.

Adjustable pallet racking (APR), commonly known as selective racking, is the most versatile and cost-effective storage system for wholesale, factory and retail warehousing environments. There are several types of APR configurations that provide different solutions to your key logistic challenges: space, retrieval efficiency and cost. The bottom line is your competitiveness and profitability.
Selective APR.
Single selective pallet rackingis the most popular and economical form of pallet racking. It’s designed foreasy access to a large number of different product SKU’s. Aisle widths range from 2500mm upwards, while standard beam lengths are 1370mm for single entry bays and 2600mm or 2700mm for double entry bays. Walkie straddle stackers require 2700mm beams with straddles on edge.

Double-Deep Adjustable Pallet Racking
Double-deep APR is the most cost-effective solution for high floor area utilisation in facilities that have large quantities of the same SKU. Aisle widths range from 3000-3500mm. Standard beam lengths are 1370mm for single pallet bays and 2600mm or 2700mm for double pallet bays. It can increase storage capacity by 17% over a selective racking configuration. It is an efficient design that increases storage density at a relatively low capital cost. Stock access: First-In-Last-Out.

Very Narrow Aisle APR
Ideal for large warehouses that require fast pick rates and easy access to a large number of different product SKU’s. Aisle widths range from 1500-2300mm. Standard beam lengths are 1370mm for single entry bays and 2600mm or 2700mm for double entry bays. This highly efficient floor space solution requires specialist handling equipment and a wire or rail guidance system.

Drive through and drive in racking is the best option for multiple quantities of the same SKU, particularly when there is a premium price on available floor space. This configuration of racking has the greatest possible percentage utilisation of floor space, whilst protecting your product by eliminating the risk of compression damage. Drive through and drive in pallet racking systems are tailored to suit your space, product and quantity requirements.

Drive through and drive in pallet racking configurations offers maximum storage density with an extremely high floor area utilisation. It is recommended for facilities with large quantities of the same SKU. Product retrieval is based on the FILO order.

Cantilever racking is a specialist storage system for wholesale, factory and specialist retail environments. Cantilever storage racks can be single or double sided and are typically used for the storage of long, heavy items such as timber, steel, plaster, and other building materials.
Cantilever Racking systems are designed to accommodate your specific needs according to:

Cantilever storage racks allow for the fast placement and retrieval of long length products. They can be designed to suit most products of any length and shape. Support arms are easily adjustable on the column for additional flexibility.

Mezzanine floors are the perfect way to maximise storage space and enhance the productivity of your warehouse or storage facility.
Many goods are better suited to manual handling as they come in shapes and sizes that cannot be palletised. Longspan shelving is an economical, non-palletised storage system. It’s similar in construction to pallet racking but designed for specific applications to enhance storage areas for both commercial and industrial use.
Raised Storage Areas and Multi-Tier Storage Systems
Both longspan and modular shelving systems (from ISS ProRack) can be designed in single or multi-tier for innovative warehouse/office storage solutions.

Longspan beams are stepped to enable particle board, steel or mesh shelf inserts to fit flush with beams.
The raised storage area system is available in single or multi-tier configurations (up to 4 tiers with mezzanine floors in between) and in high bay longspan (above 3m high) and clear entry longspan (from 1300mm to 27mm).
